Good driving practices

  • Never move the gear shift lever from P (Park) to any other position with the accelerator pedal depressed.
  • Never move the gear shift lever into P (Park) when the vehicle is in motion.
  • Slow down before shifting to a lower gear. Otherwise, the lower gear may not be engaged.
  • Always use the parking brake. Do not depend on placing the transmission in P (Park) to keep the vehicle from moving.
  • Optimum vehicle performance and economy is obtained by smoothly depressing and releasing the accelerator pedal.

✽ NOTICE - Kickdown Mechanism

Use the kickdown mechanism for maximum acceleration. Depress the accelerator pedal beyond the pressure point. The automatic transmission will shift to a lower gear depending on the engine speed.

Moving up a steep grade from a standing start

To move up a steep grade from a standing start, depress the brake pedal, release the parking brake, and shift the shift lever to D (Drive). Depress the accelerator gradually while releasing the brake pedal.

The vehicle speed will maintain the set speed. When there is a vehicle ahead of you in your lane The vehicle will maintain the set speed, when the lane ahead is clear. The vehicle will slow down or speed up within selected speed to maintain the selected distance, when there is a vehicle ahead of you in the lane. (A vehicle will appear in front of your vehicle in the LCD display only when there is an actual vehicle in front of you) If the vehicle ahead speeds up, your vehicle will travel at a steady cruising speed after accelerating to the selected speed.

Description and operation Description The smart cruise control unit is installed on the front right-hand side of the chassis. A radar sensor is embedded in the front section of the unit. This sensor detects vehicles and objects in front of the vehicle. The radar sensor can detect up to 64 objects ahead of the vehicle. The alarm goes off when the vehicle deviates from the horizontal and vertical alignment reference points during operation.
