Description and operation
Description

Engine coolant is used for circulating heat in order to heat and cool the transmission oil.

Rapidly elevates the transmission oil temperature during the initial cold start of the engine.

Prevents over heating of the transmission oil while the vehicle is moving.

Transmission oil warm-up and cooling can be done with a single system.

Repair procedures
Removal
1.

Remove the under cover.

(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Under Cover").

2.

Support the transmission on a jack and then lower the jack slowly after loosening the cross member (A) mounting bolts.

[2WD]

Tightening torque :

58.8 - 73.5 N·m (6.0 - 7.5 kgf·m, 43.4 - 54.2 lb·ft)

[4WD]

Tightening torque :

58.8 - 73.5 N·m (6.0 - 7.5 kgf·m, 43.4 - 54.2 lb·ft)

3.

Separate the coolant hose (A) and remove the ATF warmer (B) after loosening the bolts.

Tightening torque :

9.8 - 11.8 N·m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf·m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb·ft)

Installation
1.

Install in the reverse order of removal.

2.

Refill the automatic transmission with fluid.

(Refer to Hydraulic System - "Fluid")

3.

Refill the engine coolant system radiator with coolant.

(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Coolant")

Repair procedures Inspection Battery Voltage and Status Check the battery voltage and status using the battery tester. Battery Terminal 1. Move back and forth to check if the battery terminals (A) are loose or corroded. If the terminals are corroded, clean them. If battery positive connection is loose, disconnect ground(GND) cable first before attempting to remove or tighten plus connection, to prevent personal injury.
