Description

Adaptive Front-Lighting System (AFS)

AFS (Adaptive Front-Lighting System) is a headlamp orientation control system that takes into account both steering angle and vehicle speed to orient the headlamps to an angle that provides better nighttime visibility.

Variable conditions make beam pattern of running vehicle kaleidoscope.

Component of AFS

1.	Input part : It is provided that information of speed sensor, height sensor and so on related to condition of vehicle.

2.	Control part (AFS Unit) : It controls Output part by analyzing/judging Input signal.

3.	Output part : It drive Low beam of H/Lamp to upper/lower and left/right side optimum beam pattern according to output control signal of AFS Unit.

Swivelling Motor (A)

Height Sensor

1.	General Height Sensor connecting body & suspension measures inclination information from load condition. Vehicle having the Steel-suspension system transmits inclination signal to AFS ECU by using Hard-wire.

2.	Rating Rated Voltage : 5V ± 5%

LED Head lamp, LDM (A)

LDM system description.

LED (Light Emitting Diode) BEAM is largely composed of LED module, cooling fan and LDM (LED Driver Module).

LED module is composed of four units and each unit is composed of three LEDs.The cooling fan cools down the heat generated by LEDs.

The fan fails, it sends the fail signal to LDM.

LDM is a module that drives LEDs. It turns on or makes the warning lamp of the cluster flickering, if the fan or LED fails.

Download Parameter

1.	Select "AFS" menu after selecting a vehicle.

2.	Select "Parameter download" menu for define a characteristc of vehicle.

3.	When "Parameter download" is done,display belows.

System Calibration

This menu is applied only if vehicle has a Steel suspension

1.	Select "AFS" menu after selecting a vehicle.

2.	The KDS will show the AFS calibration function steps.

3.	When "System calibration" is done,display belows.

AFS Setting Procedure

When it replace AFS ECU or H/Lamp Unit or Height sensor, it operates in setting procedure by using Diagnostic equipment following belows.

When AFS setting procedure operate, necessarily confirm suspension type and then download parameter.

DBL : Dynamic bending Light

HLL : Head Lamp Leveling

Vehicle Condition While AFS Setting

1.	Vehicle on an even surface

2.	No vehicle movement

3.	Gear position in P & N

4.	Ignition switched on & Engine RPM >500 RPM

5.	Diagnostic equipment connected

6.	ALL ECUs on CAN mounted and activated

7.	Battery voltage > 10.5 V ( ECU supply to be ensured)

8.	Light switched

9.	AFS ON or OFF

Action In Case Of Download Wrong Parameter

1.	Download Delivery Parameter

2.	Check up B1661 (Parameter missing)

3.	Ignition OFF

4.	Ignition ON & Engine RPM > 500 RPM
