Description and operation
Description

Steering Wheel Angle Sensor detects rotating direction of the vehicle.The rotating direction detected by the sensor is sent to the HECU as CAN signal via CAN communication.

HECU detects speed of the steering wheel handling and the angle with this CAN signal. HECU also uses this signal as the input signal to control anti-roll.

Repair procedures
Removal
1.

Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.

2.

Remove the driver airbag (DAB) module and clock spring.

(Refer to Restraint - "Driver airbag (DAB) module and clock spring)

3.

Remove the steering wheel.

(Refer to Steering System - "Steering wheel")

4.

Remove the steering column shroud lower panel.

(Refer to Body - "Steering column shroud panel")

5.

Disconnect the clock spring connector.

6.

Remove the clock spring from the steering column.

7.

Install in the reverse order of removal.
