1. Wide sunroof assembly


Repair procedures
Removal
  

To remove the panorama sunroof assembly, use the tools shown in the following figure:

[Tools Composition]

① Square wire

② Insert-type wire grip

[Tool Assembly]

Insert and affix square wire ① into the insert hole of the wire grip ②.

1.

Remove the moving glass.

(Refer to Wide Sunroof - "Moving Glass")

2.

Remove the roof side molding.

(Refer to Body Side Molding - "Roof Side Molding")

3.

Remove the roof trim.

(Refer to Roof Trim - "Roof Trim Assembly")

4.

Remove the curtain airbag (CAB) module.

(Refer to Restraint - "Curtain Airbag (CAB) Module")

5.

Remove the assist handle bracket (A) after loosening the mounting bolts.

6.

Fix the windshield glass upper molding (A) as below figure.

7.

Pull the square wire (A) to the left and right, then apply a force in the direction of the arrow to cut off the residual sealant.

  

Longer wires require more power, so divide Sections ① and ② in half to cut off residual sealant.

  

Put on gloves to protect your hands from potential injury.

Be careful not to burn hands due to the heat generated from wire in use.

Be careful not to cut fingers when working with wires.

  

Be careful not to damage the body.

8.

Remove the front glass (A) carefully without damaging it.

9.

Loosen the panorama sunroof mounting nuts (A).

[Rear]

10.

Loosen the bolts (A) and nuts (B) on the side of the panorama sunroof.

11.

Pull the square wire (A) to the left and right, then apply a force in the direction of the arrow to cut off the residual sealant on front edge (B).

  

Put on gloves to protect your hands from potential injury.

Be careful not to burn hands due to the heat generated from wire in use.

Be careful not to cut fingers when working with wires.

  

Be careful not to damage the body.

  

When working on wires, work in a group of two or more.

12.

Push wire (A) from the outside of the body toward the face of edge (B) in the direction of the arrow.

13.

Pull the wire lead (A) inward when it is visible inside the body.

14.

Pull the square wire (B) to the left and right, then apply a force in the direction of the arrow to cut off the residual sealant on front section (A-A).

B(1): Work inside car

B(2): Work outside car

  

Put on gloves to protect your hands from potential injury.

Be careful not to burn hands due to the heat generated from wire in use.

Be careful not to cut fingers when working with wires.

  

Be careful not to damage the body.

  

When working on wires, work in a group of two or more.

  

When using wires to remove the residual sealant, there may be an interference between the nut hole and device hole. Thus, perform sealant removal work as shown in the following figure:

① Use a scraper or flathead driver to lift up a region between the body and panorama sunroof.

② Turn and pull out wire (A) between the nut hole and device hole (B) in the direction of the arrow. Next, cut off the residual sealant again.

  

Be careful not to damage the nut hole (C).

Be careful not to damage the device hole (D).

15.

Pull the square wire (B) to the left and right, then apply a force in the direction of the arrow to cut off the residual sealant on side section (A-A).

B(1): Work inside car

B(2): Work outside car

16.

Pull the square wire (B) to the left and right, then apply a force in the direction of the arrow to cut off the residual sealant on rear section (A-A).

Be careful not to cut fingers when working with wires.

  

Be careful not to damage the body.

  

When working on wires, work in a group of two or more.

  

When using wires to remove the residual sealant, there may be an interference between the nut hole and device hole. Thus, perform sealant removal work as shown in the following figure:

① Use a scraper or flathead driver to lift up a region between the body and panorama sunroof.

② Turn and pull out wire (A) between the nut hole and device hole (B) in the direction of the arrow. Next, cut off the residual sealant again.

  

Be careful not to damage the nut hole (C).

Be careful not to damage the device hole (D).

17.

Cut residual sealant on every surface, and then remove panorama sunroof assembly (A).

  

Be careful not to damage the panorama sunroof assembly when removing it.

Installation
  

To remove the panorama sunroof assembly, use the tools shown in the following figure:

① Square wire

② Insert-type wire grip

[Tool Assembly]

Insert and affix square wire ① into the insert hole of the wire grip ②.

1.

Use a blade to cut off residual sealant (A) around body panel.

  

When cutting off the residual sealant around the body panel, make sure to leave about 2 mm in thickness from the adhesive surface.

  

Make sure that the body paint surface is not damaged at all.

If it is damaged, apply paint or rust inhibitor for maintenance.

2.

If panorama sunroof assembly (A) is reused, use a blade to remove residual sealant (B) around the body panel.

3.

Use alcohol or an air gun to clean up the edges of the body panel and the panorama sunroof.

4.

Use a sealant gun to apply sealant (B) around body panel (A).

  

When using a sealant gun to apply the sealant, make sure that the sealant is not cracked to prevent water leaks.

5.

Align with centering device hole (A) of the body, and carefully mount the panorama sunroof on the body panel.

[Rear]

6.

Check step and gap before fully mounting panorama sunroof assembly (A).

7.

Apply tape around the panorama sunroof assembly to prevent the assembly from coming off.

  

If sealant is excessively applied, it may ooze out of the body. Use alcohol or a cleaning agent to wipe off the residual sealant.

8.

Tighten panorama sunroof mounting nuts (A).

[Front]

Tightening torque :

7.8 - 11.8 N·m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf·m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb·ft)

[Rear]

Tightening torque :

7.8 - 11.8 N·m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf·m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb·ft)

9.

Tighten panorama sunroof side mounting bolts (A) and nuts (B).

Tightening torque :

7.8 - 11.8 N·m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf·m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb·ft)

10.

Install the assist handle bracket (A).

Tightening torque :

7.8 - 11.8 N·m (0.8 - 1.2 kgf·m, 5.8 - 8.7 lb·ft)

11.

Install the moving glass.

(Refer to Wide Sunroof - "Moving Glass")

12.

Press wide sunroof switch to fully close the movable glass.

13.

Perform water leak test.

  

Make sure that a stream of water doesn't reach the newly mounted surface, but drops down the side of the glass instead.

14.

In case of water leakage, apply sealant to the whole area of leakage.

  

Mount panorama sunroof and set the car on a flat surface for at least 4 hours.

If you have to drive the car, be sure to drive SLOWLY for at least 8 hours after mounting.

Alert the driver to avoid driving the car aggressively for 2-3 days, and driving on irregular road surfaces.

15.

If front glass (A) is reused, use a blade to remove residual sealant (B) around the body panel.

16.

Use alcohol or an air gun to clean up the edges of the body panel and front glass.

17.

Use a sealant gun to apply sealant (B) around body panel (A).

  

When using a sealant gun to apply the sealant, make sure that the sealant is not cracked to prevent water leaks.

18.

Install the front glass (A) loosely on the body panel.

19.

Check step and gap before front glass (A) is fully mounted.

20.

Apply tape around the front glass to prevent the glass from coming off.

  

If sealant is excessively applied, it may ooze out of the body. Use alcohol or a cleaning agent to wipe off the residual sealant.

21.

Install the curtain airbag (CAB) module.

(Refer to Restraint - "Curtain Airbag (CAB) Module")

22.

Remove the roof side molding.

(Refer to Body Side Molding - "Roof Side Molding")

23.

Remove the roof trim.

(Refer to Roof Trim - "Roof Trim Assembly")

  

Mount front glass and set the car on a flat surface for at least 4 hours.

If you have to drive the car, be sure to drive SLOWLY the car for at least 8 hours after mounting.

Alert the driver to avoid driving the car aggressively for 2-3 days, and driving on irregular road surfaces.
