Description and operation
Camshaft Position Sensor (CMPS) is a hall sensor, which detects the camshaft
position by using a hall element.
It is related with Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKPS) and detects the piston position
of each cylinder which cannot be detected by the CKPS.
The CMPS is installed on engine head cover and uses a target wheel installed
on the camshaft. The Cam Position sensor is a hall-effect type sensor. As the target
wheel passes the hall sensor, the magnetic field in the sensor changes. The sensor
then sends off a signal which creates a square wave which is used for precisely
detecting the location of each cylinder to control the independent sequential injection
of each cylinder.

Repair procedures
| 1. |
Check the signal waveform of the CMPS and CKPS using the KDS.
|
Specification: Refer to “Wave Form”
|
|
| • |
DON’T remove the camshaft position sensor while the engine is
running or right after engine is turned off. The part and engine
oil is hot and can cause burns.
|
|
| 1. |
Switch "OFF" the ignition and disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.
|
| 2. |
Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector (A).
|
| 3. |
Remove the camshaft position sensor after loosening the mounting bolt
(B).

|
| • |
Install the component to the specified torques.
|
| • |
Note that internal damage may occur when the component is dropped.
In this case, use it after inspecting.
|
| • |
Apply the engine oil to the O-ring.
|
| • |
Insert the sensor into the installation hole and be careful not
to damage it during the installation.
|
| • |
Be careful not to damage the sensor housing and the connector.
|
| • |
Be careful not to damage the O-ring.
|
|
| 1. |
Install in the reverse order of removal.

Repair procedures
Front wheel alignment
When using a commercially available computerized wheel alignment equipment
to inspect the front wheel alignment, always position the vehicle on a level
surface with the front wheels facing straight ahead.
Prior to inspection, make sure that the front suspension and steering
system are in normal operating condition and that the tires are inflated
to the specified pressure.
Kia Stinger (CK) 2018-2023 Service Manual: Electric Waste Gate Actuator (EWGA)
Description and operation
Desrcription
Installed on the turbocharger, the Electric Waste Gate Actuator (EWGA) operates
the vane in the Waste Gate Turbocharger (WGT) and regulates the compressed air amount
based on the PWM signal from the ECM. This actuator consists of a DC motor which
actuates the vane, a 2-step gear which increases torque of the DC motor, a position
sensor which detects status of the vane, and an electric control unit which drives
the DC motor.
