| Description |
Located in the heater unit, the mode control actuator adjusts the position of the mode door by operating the mode control actuator according to the signal from the A/C control unit.
Pressing the mode select switch shifts the mode control actuator in the order of Vent → Bi-Level → Floor → Mix.
| Inspection |
| 1. |
Turn the ignition switch OFF. |
| 2. |
Disconnect the mode control actuator connector. |
| 3. |
Verify that the mode control actuator operates to the defrost mode when 12V is connected to terminal 3 and ground to terminal 7. Verify that the mode control actuator operates to the vent mode when connected in reverse.

Connect the mode control actuator connector. |
| 5. |
Turn the ignition switch ON. |
| 6. |
Check the voltage between terminals 5 and 6. Specification
The current position of the actuator will be sent to the control unit. |
| 7. |
If the measured voltage is not within the specification, substitute with a verified temperature control actuator and check for proper operation. |
| 8. |
Replace the mode control actuator if it is proved that there is a problem with it. |
| Replacement |
| 1. |
Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal. |
| 2. |
Remove the steering coulmn and shaft. (Refer to Steering System - "Steering Coulmn and Shaft") |
| 3. |
Disconnect the connector (A) and then remove the mode control actuator (B) after loosening the screws.

Install in the reverse order of removal. |
