Repair procedures

Replacement

Oil Seal (Main Shaft)

1.	Remove the transfer case assembly. (Refer to 4 Wheel Drive (AWD) System -"Transfer Case Assembly")

Remove the oil seal (A) using a flat head driver.

•	To prevent from oil leak at the Bentle Valve (B), replace the oil seal with the same installation direction of transfer case oil seal.

•	Watch out if the dust or foreign matters enters when oil seal replacement.

•	Do not reuse the oil seal.

Install the new oil seal with special service tools (0K473-J5100, 09231-H1100).

Check if there is any gap after oil seal installation.

4.	Install the transfer case assembly. (Refer to 4 Wheel Drive (AWD) System -"Transfer Case Assembly")

Oil Seal (Rear Flange)

1.	Remove the rear propeller shaft assembly. (Refer to Driveshaft and axle -"Rear Propeller Shaft Assembly")

Remove the snap ring (A) using a snap ring plier.

Do not reuse the snap ring.

3.	Remove the rear flange (A) using a gear puller.

Remove the oil seal (A) using flat head driver.

•	Watch out if the dust or foreign matters enters when oil seal replacement.

•	Do not reuse the oil seal.

Install the new oil seal using special service tools (0K473-J5200, 09231-H1100).

Check if there is any gap after oil seal installation.

Install the rear flange.

Replace the O-ring (A) at inner side of the rear flange.

Do not reuse the O-ring.

(2)	Install the rear flange (A) to the transfer case fully stick to it.

Install the snap ring.

(1)	Measure the thickness of disconnected snap ring.

Select the same size snap ring with the disconnected one using below table.

Install a new snap ring (A) using snap ring plier.

Do not reuse the snap ring.

8.	Install the rear propeller shaft assembly. (Refer to Driveshaft and axle -"Rear Propeller Shaft Assembly")

1. Turn the ignition switch and all other switches off. 2. Remove the fuse panel cover by pressing the tab and pulling the cover up. When the blade type fuse is disconnected, remove it by using the clip designed for changing fuses located in the engine compartment fuse box. Upon removal, securely insert reserve fuse of the same rating. 3. Check the removed fuse; replace it if it is blown.
